Crunch Fall Short to Toronto in Game Six

Syracuse, NY, (Sunday, May 11, 2008)
Syracuse, N.Y.(May 10, 2008) - It wasn't for a lack of effort on the part of the Syracuse Crunch, but the Toronto Marlies once again staved off elimination and forced a game seven on Monday with a 3-2 win over the Crunch Saturday at the Onondaga County War Memorial.

The North Division finals are now tied at three games apiece.

Bates Battaglia continued to be a thorn in the Crunch’s side. Battaglia scored the overtime winner Friday and repeated that performance by notching the game-winner midway through the third that capped a three-goal outburst for the Marlies
.
Syracuse continues to have trouble controlling the Battaglia, David Ling, Kris Newbury line combination.

Alexandre Picard put Syracuse on the board with his second of the playoffs in the first period and Duvie Westcott brought the 5,525 fans to their feet with a goal with just over six minutes remaining in the third period.

Karl Goehring was pulled in the final minute for the extra attacker but Syracuse couldn’t dent Toronto goalie Scott Clemmensen for the equalizer.

3-Stars—No. 1, Bates Battaglia, No. 2, Duvie Westcott, No. 3, David Ling.

They Said It—

“I think Clemmensen was the difference. He just made save after save after save. If we get that second goal and go up 2-0 maybe it would have been a different story.” Duvie Westcott’s post-game comments.
