Syracuse, NY, (Tuesday, June 30, 2009)

Syracuse, NY (June 30, 2009) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have named Dave Rook the club’s goaltending coach.  Rook is in Columbus this week working with the team during its development camp.

Rook most recently served as a goaltending consultant in the St. Louis Blues organization and has also spent the last six years as the goaltending coach for the London Knights (OHL), where he worked with current Blue Jackets netminder Steve Mason.

Mason was named the OHL Goaltender of the Year and a year later he was again one of the league's top players and earned Most Valuable Player and Top Goaltender honors helping Team Canada win the gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships.

The 41-year old Rook is expected to work with all of the goaltending prospects within the Blue Jackets organization.

A native of London, Ontario, Rook played professionally in Europe for five seasons from 1991-96 before embarking on his teaching and consulting career. He worked for the London (Ontario) Nationals Junior B team from 1996-2003 before joining the Knights for the 2003-04 season and later helped London win the Memorial Cup championship in 2004-05.
