Crunch Victorious 3-2 in Albany in a Shootout

The Syracuse Crunch won their third consecutive game with a thrilling, 3-2, shootout victory against the Albany Devils, Saturday night at the Times Union Center. 
Marco Cousineau earned his second consecutive win, stopping 33 of 35 shots in regulation and overtime. Dan Sexton scored the game-winning tally in the shootout.
 
The Crunch and Devils played a tight first period, with neither team relenting. The Crunch out-shot Albany 8-2 in the first period.
 
Albany struck first at 6:42 of the second period. Nathan Perkovich's turn-around shot eluded Cousineau for his fourth goal of the season.
 
The Crunch responded with a pair of goals in 1:30. 
John Kurtz crashed the net for his first goal of the season to tie the game at one. Then 
Brandon McMillan's wrist shot from the slot sneaked by goaltender Keith Kincaid for his sixth goal of the season and a 2-1 Crunch lead.
 
Perkovich registered his second of the game, tipping a point shot from Brandon Burlon to tie the game at two with 3:31 left in the second period.
 
After a scoreless third period and overtime, the Crunch and Devils headed into a shootout.
 
In the skills competition, the Crunch received goals from 
Patrick Maroon, 
Luca Caputi, J.F. Jacques and Sexton. Cousineau came up with the game-winning save on Stephane Veilleux in round five to preserve the victory.
 
The Crunch complete their seven-game road trip in Worcester against the Sharks on Sunday at 3 pm. The Crunch return home on Friday, January 20 to take on the Norfolk Admirals.
