Crunch Drop 4-1 Decision to Albany

Syracuse, NY (February 11, 2012) – Goaltender Timo Pielmeier doomed his former team, turning away 37 of 38 shots en route to the Crunch's 4-1 loss tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

The Crunch carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to Kyle Palmieri's 26th goal of the season. Palmieri's backhander Pielmeier for the game's first goal just 1:33 into the first period.

Syracuse had a chance to extend their lead when Nick Palmieri was called for hooking at 4:26 into the second period, instead the Devils tied the game on a short-handed tally from Vladimir Zharkov.

Albany took the lead with a power-play goal at the 12:01 mark of the second stanza. Stephane Velileux beat Crunch goaltender Jeff Deslauriers from the left side of the crease to make it 2-1.

Mattias Tedenby extended the Devils lead beating Deslauriers five-hole early in the third period and Nathan Perkovich added an empty-net goal with 32 seconds remaining to secure the Devils victory.

The Crunch travel to take on the Lake Erie Monsters Sunday, February 12 and will rematch the Devils in Albany on February 15.

Crunchables: Crunch will face the Devils five more times to complete the season series... Vladimir Zharkov's goal was the ninth short-handed goal allowed by the Crunch this season… Anaheim Ducks returned Crunch Captain Nate Guenin earlier this afternoon.
