Syracuse, NY (March 11, 2012) – The Syracuse Crunch overpowered the Albany Devils 5-1 today at the War Memorial Arena.
 
The Crunch got out to a quick two goal lead after 
Mathieu Carle and 
Luca Caputi each scored in a 35 second span. Carle's goal was a power-play tally at the 8:27 mark of the first and Caputi's goal, his 10
th of the season, came at even-strength at 9:02.
 
The Devils lone goal came on the man-advantage at the 10:58 mark of the first period from Devils defenseman Peter Harrold. Crunch goaltender 
Iiro Tarkki stayed perfect the remainder of the game, turning aside 36 of 37 shots.
 
Patrick Maroon made it 3-1 with 6:20 to play in the opening frame. Maroon easily flipped a feed from 
Peter Holland past Albany goaltender Keith Kinkaid for his 28
th of the season.  Holland finished the game with three assists.
 
The Crunch extended their lead with second period goals from defenseman 
Nick Schaus and right wing Dan Sexton. Schaus ripped a shot from the blue line which evaded Kinkaid at the 6:12 mark in the second. Sexton scored his 11
th goal of the season with under two minutes remaining in the second stanza.
 
The Crunch now hold a 6-3 lead in the season series with the Devils, they will face Albany one more time in the regular season finale on April 15
th.
