Crunch win streak snapped by Flames

ADK 4, SYR 1

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch (9-5-3-0) saw their four-game win streak snapped at the hands of the Adirondack Flames (10-6-1-0) tonight at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Flames netminder Joni Ortio stopped 26 of 27 shots while Crunch goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis allowed four goals on 34 shots in the losing decision. The Flames capitalized on two of their three power-play chances, while the Crunch failed to score on three man-advantage opportunities.

The Flames opened the scoring 13 seconds into the contest with a goal from David Wolf. Taylor Vause and Tyler Wotherspoon picked up the helpers on the play.
Adirondack held the lead until Syracuse Crunch defenseman Luke Witkowski evened the score with 2:18 remaining in the second period. Witkowski's shot from the right point found its way through traffic and into the back of Orito's net to tie the game 1-1.

Vause sent the Flames into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead thanks to his goal with two seconds remaining in the period. Vause's first of the season was assisted by Emile Poirier and Wolf.

The Flames pulled away with two power-play goals in the third period. The first was scored by Brodie Reid 11:56 in to the frame and assisted by Mark Cundari. Cundari, along with Reid, set up the next power-play goal, scored by Poirier with 3:04 to play while Nikita Nesterov was serving a tripping penalty.
The Crunch host the Utica Comets for the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Carrier Dome.
