Andrei Vasilevskiy and Syracuse Crunch stonewall Binghamton Senators, 4-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y.Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 27 shots in his first shutout this season as the Syracuse Crunch stonewalled the Binghamton Senators, 4-0, tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Daniel Walcott recorded his first professional goal, while Cameron Darcy, Dylan Blujus and Tye McGinn also lit the lamp during the Crunch shutout.

The victory breaks a five-game winless streak and moves the Crunch to 11-10-3-1 on the season and 4-0 in the 10-game season series. The Senators were handed their fourth consecutive loss and drop to 6-17-2-0.

Crunch goaltender Vasilevskiy was solid, turning aside all 27. Senators netminder Chris Driedger allowed four goals on 27 shots. Syracuse special teams were highly successful, going 2-for-5 on the man-advantage and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Crunch opened the scoring with 5:16 remaining in the first period. While on the power-play, Anthony DeAngelo slid one to the slot for Darcy to redirect into the back of the net for his second of the season. Matthew Peca picked up the secondary assist.

At the 7:46 mark of the middle stanza, Walcott netted his first professional tally. The Crunch won the faceoff and shot the puck out for David Broll to circle to Blujus at the right point. Blujus fired a shot that was tipped down low by Walcott to build a 2-0 lead.

Syracuse added two more in the final period to down Binghamton, 4-0. Just 2:38 into the frame, Blujus slotted one through traffic from the point on the man-advantage. Slater Koekkoek picked up a point with the primary assist. Peca earned his fourth multi-point game of the season with the secondary helper. With less than two minutes left in the final stretch, DeAngelo threw one on net for McGinn to deflect past Driedger. Blujus posted his first professional three-point game with an assist.
