TORONTO – The Syracuse Crunch built a four-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Marlies tonight at Ricoh Coliseum.
The victory stops Toronto's winning streak at seven and gives the Crunch their first win in an eight-game season series. Syracuse now sits at 8-9-1-2 on the season.
Louis Domingue recorded his third consecutive win with 27 saves in net for the Crunch. His counterpart, Garret Sparks, turned aside 30-of-32. Syracuse was unable to convert on four power play opportunities and went 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Crunch were first on the board at the 10:35 mark of the opening frame. Chris DiDomenico passed off a give-and-go with
Cory Conacher as they entered the zone. DiDomenico received the return feed and sniped a shot from the right circle for his first goal with the Crunch.
Mat Bodie earned a point on the tally.
Syracuse doubled up Toronto nine minutes into the second period.
Alexander Volkov sent the puck down to
Reid McNeill in the corner. The defenseman fired a centering feed to
Kevin Lynch who was denied on his first attempt, but banged in his own rebound on the backhand for the eventual game-winner.
The Marlies finally stole one back while on the power play early in the third stanza. Frederik Gauthier cut down the slot to tip in Timothy Liljegren's feed on the backdoor. Travis Dermott recorded the secondary helper.
Conacher sealed a Crunch victory with an empty-netter in the final minute off an assist from McNeill.
