Crunch Fall To Marlies, 4-1

TORONTO – The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Toronto Marlies, 4-1, tonight at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

After going down by two, Taylor Raddysh got the Crunch on the board with the team's lone goal of the night. Syracuse is now 2-4-0-0 on the season.

Goaltender Eddie Pasquale stopped 27-of-31 shots in net for the Crunch, while Jeff Glass recorded the win with 18 saves for the Marlies. Syracuse was 0-for-2 on the power play, but went a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The Marlies opened scoring 13:07 into the first period. Rasmus Sandin tallied his first professional goal with a shot through traffic from the blue line. Carl Grundstrom earned the assist. Two minutes later, Toronto doubled their lead. Chris Mueller picked off a cross-zone pass in the neutral zone and beat Pasquale on the breakaway.

The Crunch stole one back with 1:45 remaining in the opening frame. Glass mishandled the puck behind the net and Mitchell Stephens forced the turnover. He passed over for Raddysh to score while the goaltender was out of position.

Just 21 seconds into the second period, Toronto regained their two-goal lead. Calle Rosen came in on an odd-man rush with Mason Marchment. Marchement picked up the centering feed and flipped the puck in on the backhand. Trevor Moore picked up a point with the secondary helper.

Toronto added one more in the third period when Moore poked in a second-chance opportunity five-hole. Assists went to Andreas Borgman and Jordan Subban.

The Crunch return to the War Memorial Arena to host the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow at 7 p.m.
