BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch potted four unanswered goals in a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over the Binghamton Devils tonight at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
Gabriel Dumont paced the team with a three-point performance (1g, 2a), while
Cal Foote tallied two goals, Alex Barre-Boulet recorded a goal and an assist and
Cameron Gaunce earned two helpers. The win advances the Crunch to 18-8-2-0 on the season and 6-0 in the 10-game series against the Devils.
Goaltender
Eddie Pasquale earned the win with 30 saves between the pipes for the Crunch. Cam Johnson stopped 22-of-28 in net for the Devils. Syracuse and Binghamton both went 0-for-1 on the power play.
The Devils were first on the board 7:28 into the first period. Michael Kapla cut down low before throwing a cross-slot feed for John Ramage to one-time from the right circle. Kevin Rooney earned the secondary assist. Binghamton went up by two at the 12:20 mark when they capitalized on a Crunch turnover. Michael McLeod skated down the slot and dropped a pass back for Blake Pietila to net.
The Crunch responded 21 seconds later. A rebound from
Dennis Yan's shot kicked out for Foote to send home with a slapshot from the top of the right circle.
Troy Bourke tallied a point on the goal.
With 3:47 remaining in the opening frame, Syracuse climbed back to tie the game. Gaunce skated down between the circles and sent a no-look feed for
Carter Verhaeghe to chip in from next to the post. Dumont tallied the secondary helper on the equalizer.
The Crunch added two more goals just 13 seconds apart to build a two-goal lead of their own. At the 12:13 mark,
Ross Colton won the face off in the left circle and sent it back to Gaunce at the point. His quick redirection set up Barre-Boulet for a one-timer from the high slot. Foote then scored his second of the night from between the circles with the help of Barre-Boulet and Alex Volkov.
The Devils put an end to the Crunch scoring frenzy with 20 seconds remaining in the second period. Josh Jacobs sauced the puck across the crease for Brandon Gignac to finish off.
Syracuse put up two more in the third period to secure a comeback win. At the 4:56 mark, Dumont tipped
Dominik Masin's right-circle shot for his third of the season.
Hubert Labrie recorded the secondary assist. At the 11:40 mark, Dumont chipped the puck towards the net for
Boris Katchouk to jam in on his second try.
The Crunch return home to host the Utica Comets on Friday at 7 p.m.
