SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Florida Panthers have assigned goaltender Sam Montembeault to the Syracuse Crunch, general manager Bill Zito announced today.
 
Montembeault, 24, appeared in 14 games with the Panthers last season posting a .890 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against average. The 6-foot-3, 199-pound netminder also played in 11 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds last season earning a .918 save percentage and 3.00 goals-against average with one shutout. Montembeault was selected by Florida in the third round, 77th overall, at the 2015 NHL Draft.
