Syracuse Crunch To Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Toyota Frozen Dome Classic Nov. 22

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Friday, Nov. 22 when the team hosts the Utica Comets at 7 p.m.

The evening will highlight the record-setting game held on Nov. 22, 2014, at the then-Carrier Dome. The Crunch defeated the Utica Comets, 2-1, and set the United States professional hockey indoor attendance record with 30,715 fans. Yanni Gourde scored the game-winning goal in the second period of the historic matchup with an assist from Jonathan Marchessault. Andrei Vasilevskiy earned the win in net for the Crunch.

The previous indoor attendance record of 28,183 was set April 23, 1996 by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Thunderdome in a Stanley Cup playoff game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Toyota Frozen Dome Classic attendance number also shattered the previous AHL attendance record of 20,672.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the team will wear Toyota Frozen Dome Classic jerseys during the game on Nov. 22. The jerseys are Crunch blue with orange piping. Select game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off on the ice immediately following the game.
