Crunch Outlasted by Rochester
Rochester, NY (November 6, 2011) – Despite a four point night from Crunch right wing Dan Sexton the Crunch suffered a 6-5 overtime loss to the Rochester Americans tonight at the Blue Cross Arena.

Sexton was recognized as the game's first star for his four point (1g, 3a) effort. Sexton had five points (1g, 4a) in Saturday's 5-2 win over Rochester, bringing his two-game total to nine points (2g, 7a). The Crunch claimed three of a possible four points from Rochester this weekend.

Rochester opened the scoring with a goal from center Mark Voakes less than a minute into the contest. Voakes beat Crunch goaltender Jeff Deslauriers to give Rochester a 1-0 lead 50 seconds into the first period.

The Crunch evened the score on a breakaway goal from Sexton at the 5:15 mark of the first. Sexton beat Rochester goaltender David Leggio after taking a pass from Patrick Maroon that left him one-on-one with the Rochester netminder.

The Americans regained the lead just over a minute later with a breakaway goal from right wing Zack Kassian. Kassian's goal was assisted by Colin Stuart.

With Rochester's Marcus Foligno off for hooking, left wing J.F. Jacques fed the puck across the crease to Bryan Rodney who was able to wrist a shot past Leggio for a power-play goal that would even the score 2-2 heading into the first intermission.

The Crunch and Americans would combine to score five goals in the second period, the first coming less than two minutes into the frame from Rochester's right wing Travis Turnbull. The Amerks extended their lead 4-2 with a shorthanded tally from Voakes at the 6:54 mark of the second.

Syracuse responded with three unanswered goals making it 5-4 to take them into the second intermission with their first lead of the game. Nicolas Deschamps made it 4-3 on a breakaway, lifting the puck over Leggio for a power-play goal with 11:30 remaining in the second period.

A few minutes later the Crunch tied the game with a goal from John Mitchell. Mark Bell blasted a shot on net which Leggio couldn't control, the rebound came loose and Mitchell was able to knock in the rebound just past the halfway point of the period.
The Crunch got their first lead of the game when a Sexton shot from the right circle rebounded off Leggio to Maroon and he banged the puck in for a 5-4 lead.

With just 2:04 remaining in regulation Rochester's Paul Szczechura scored his first goal of the season to send the game into overtime.

Less than a minute into the extra frame the Americans found themselves with a 2-on-1 and defenseman Brayden McNabb scored giving Rochester the win.

Crunchables:  Mark Bell has five points in his last two games…John Mitchell's second period goal was his first of the season…Ten different Crunch skaters recorded at least a point in tonight's contest.
