Five-game road trip begins Saturday in Albany

Preview

Game 16: Syracuse Crunch at Albany Devils
5 p.m. at Times Union Center, Albany, N.Y.

The Crunch look for their second win vs. Albany in as many games at the Times Union Center Saturday. Syracuse (10-3-1-1) had its three-game win streak snapped Friday by Binghamton while Albany (4-6-0-4) has just two wins in its last nine games. Falling 5-2 to Rochester last night the Devils last week had two shootout losses and a win, 5-3, at St. John's. The Crunch remain in first place in the East Division while the Devils sink to fifth in the Northeast Division and 15th in the Eastern Conference.

Matchup
The A-Devils are led by Jacob Josefson with 10 points (6g, 4a) while Jeff Frazee (3-1-2) edges Keith Kincaid (1-4-2) in goals-against average, 2.12 to 2.39. Cory Conacher continues to lead Syracuse in scoring with 17 points, while Dustin Tokarski boasts a 1.98 GAA. Syracuse scored another power-play goal Friday vs. Binghamton and 12th in the AHL at 18.8% (15-for-80). The Devils are last in the AHL on the power play, converting on 7.8% of their chances (5-for-64).

Yesterday
Syracuse suffered a 2-1 loss Friday vs. Binghamton, falling behind 2-0 on first and third period goals from former Devil Tyler Eckford. Richard Panik scored a power play goal in the third, but Syracuse could not complete the comeback as they had in their first meeting with Binghamton Oct. 20. Dustin Tokarski made 22 saves, but had his personal four-game win streak snapped in his second loss of the season.

The Devils lost in Rochester Friday, 5-2, their first inter-conference matchup of the year. Rochester scored twice while shorthanded as the Devils' league-worst power play dropped to 7.8 %. Steve Zalewski and Raman Hrabarenka scored their first goals for the Devils.

Last Meeting
On Oct. 19, the Crunch came from behind to beat the Devils, 3-2, at Times Union Center. Albany built leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but two power play-goals got the Crunch even. Tyler Johnson, J.T. Brown and Mike Angelidis scored for Syracuse while Dustin Tokarski made 25 saves on 27 Devils shots. Jeff Frazee made 20 stops in defeat, while the Devils went 0-for-5 on the power play. Mattias Tedenby and Mike Hoeffel scored for Albany.

Notes
Syracuse has won seven consecutive road games, a franchise record. Prior to the current streak, only twice in Crunch history has the team strung together six straight wins away from home. Syracuse is the only team in the AHL without a regulation loss on the road (7-0-0-1), falling only in a shootout at Rochester, 6-5, in the first game of the season Oct. 12.

Richard Panik extended his scoring streak to eight games with a power-play goal Friday vs. Binghamton. Now with seven goals on the season, Panik has 13 points, fourth most on the team behind Cory Conacher (17), Tyler Johnson (16) who assisted on Panik's goal Friday, and Ondrej Palat (14).

Ondrej Palat leads the Crunch in assists (12) and has recorded at least one point in every road game the Crunch have played this season -- eight games, a league best. Palat scored the game-winning goal over Adirondack last Saturday, Nov. 17, in Syracuse.

Defenseman Charles Landry has been recalled by the Crunch from ECHL-Florida and is expected to dress for Saturday's game with defensemen Keith Aulie and Evan Oberg sidelined with injuries.

Following Saturday's action, the Devils play a home game at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall Sunday vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 4 p.m. while the Crunch make their first trip to Worcester for a 3 p.m. meeting with the Sharks.
