Crunch seek revenge in Glens Falls vs. Phantoms

Game 25: Syracuse Crunch at Adirondack Phantoms

Syracuse meets the Phantoms for the second time in a week and fifth time this season Friday at the Glens Falls Civic Center, where the Crunch lost in a shootout last Saturday, 4-3. Syracuse has points in all four meetings (2-0-1-1) with Adirondack, but committed costly penalties in the two Phantoms wins leading to four game-changing power play goals. Syracuse overcame two power-play goals by Binghamton Wednesday, defeating the Senators, 4-3, at the War Memorial.

Where they stand
The Flyers' AHL affiliate is last in the Northeast Division (10-12-1-0), tied with the Albany Devils at 21 points, just one point better than the Eastern Conference's last place team, Norfolk. Syracuse has the best record in the East (15-6-1-2) and its 33 points are just one behind Abbotsford for the AHL's top spot.

Scouting report
The Phantoms are coming off a loss at Providence. 3-2, Sunday in which the Bruins fired 47 shots at goalie Scott Munroe. Former Norfolk and Syracuse forward Jeff Dimmen scored his first of the year and Tye McGinn assisted, also scoring his eighth of the year in a losing effort.

Brayden Schenn (11g-15a-26pts), Sean Couturier (7g-13a-20pts) and Eric Gustafsson (3g-11a-14pts) are the top weapons for Adirondack, each of whom has done damage against Syracuse, combining for 18 points vs. the Crunch in four games. After facing Syracuse, the Phantoms host Manchester Saturday.

Crunch scoring like no other
Syracuse remains the only AHL team with four players at or above 20 points: Tyler Johnson (15g-10a-25pts), Brett Connolly (11g-11a-22pts), Cory Conacher (10g-12a-22pts) and Richard Panik (11g-9a-20pts).

Connolly has four goals in the last four games. Ondrej Palat leads the AHL with a plus-17 and has a team-leading 16 assists. Alex Killorn has three points in the last two games (2g, 1a) and is the Crunch's most productive rookie with 16 points for the year (6g, 10a), top-15 among AHL rookies.

Compared to the rest of the league, no team is more productive than Syracuse. The Crunch lead the league with 3.67 goals per game (88GF in 24GP) whereas Adirondack has 2.57 scores per contest (59GF in 23GP).
