SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After three long years, Team Tamurian finally ended a dynasty and claimed the Street Crunch Media Game title with a 11-10 victory over Team Axe.
 
Team Tamurian opened scoring and never lost the lead on the way to their first championship. Justin Page led the team with a six-point performance (2g, 4a), while Todd Cross contributed five (3g, 2a). Wayne Mahar earned MVP honors turning aside 57-of-67 shots on goal.
 
Rory Specia put up six points for Team Axe (4g, 2a) followed by Mark Hayes with four (2g, 2a). Ken Murphy backstopped Team Axe with 55 saves on 66 shots.
 
The Street Crunch Media Game is an annual event where members of local media and the Crunch front office compete in a fun-spirited street hockey match-up. Teams were selected in a live draft on Twitter by team captains Brent Axe of Syracuse.com and Niko Tamurian of CNY Central.

The Syracuse Crunch's annual Summer Street Crunch series presented by McDonald's is a series of street hockey games open to all kids between the ages of 5-14. Games are held on four Saturdays in July and August. Two teams compete against each other in hour-long games. Helmets, sticks and sneakers (no skates) are required. All games are held at 9 a.m. outside the War Memorial Arena on Montgomery Street. The final game this season will be held on Aug. 12.
