LAST TIME OUT
Â
The Crunch overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Laval Rocket, 3-2, Saturday at Upstate Medical University Arena.
Â
Coming off a 3-0 loss the night prior, the Crunch found themselves down 2-0 to the Rocket 5:28 into the game.
Mitchell Chaffee powered the comeback and got the engines going with a shorthanded goal at 7:15 of the first period.
Â
Ethan Gauthier leveled the score with a power-play goal later in the first period. The 2-2 tie was broken early in the third period with a
Dylan Duke power-play goal. The Crunch went 2-for-3 on the power play and were a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill in the game.Â
Â
Syracuse held Laval to 17 shots on goal which marked the eighth time over the last 12 games that the team has allowed fewer than 20 shots on goal.
Â
DOUGLAS BEGINS CONDITIONING STINT
Â
Curtis Douglas has joined the Crunch on a conditioning loan from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 25-year-old has appeared in 27 games for the Lightning this season, logging two assists and 75 penalty minutes.
Â
The 6-foot-9, 242-pound forward has skated in 261 career AHL games, notching 97 points and 508 penalty minutes. He was claimed off waivers by the Lightning from the Utah Mammoth prior to the season.
Â
CHAFFEE MATCHES CAREER HIGH
Â
Mitchell Chaffee fueled the Crunch's comeback in their lone win of Week 14. The forward nabbed three points in the 3-2 victory over the Laval Rocket. With the Crunch down 2-0, Chaffee ripped a shorthanded goal for his ninth tally of the season. He then added primary assists on the final two goals of the game for his fourth career three-point game in the AHL.
Â
Chaffee ranks fifth on the Crunch with 26 points (9g, 17a) in 26 games. He has registered at least one point in nine of the last 11 games since Dec. 13.
Â
SCOUTING THE AMERICANS
Â
Rochester (18-12-3-1) sits in fourth place in the North Division and are 5-3-1-1 in their last 10 games. Tonight is just the 16th home game of the season for the Amerks. Only the Crunch (13) have played fewer home games.Â
Â

The 22-year-old is averaging a team-high 1.3 points per game, racking up 26 points total (15g, 11a). Syracuse is the only team to hold Rosén off the scoresheet, doing so twice on Oct. 18 and Jan. 7.
